We've blown through a stack of The Bell Ray's "Let It Blast" on Skooch Pooch records. Killer blend of Detroit 70's raunch and punk rock 'n' roll.
The latest 7" offerings from Junk Records are all balls-out barn burners. The La Donnas, New Wave Hookers and the RC 5 are all definitely nitro fueled and ready to burn!! The Demolition Doll Rods new album, "T.L.A." is a great one as well. This is their second full length and it's chock full of killer tunes. Hopefully they return to Ottawa in support of the lp 'cause they rocked the Dominion Tavern last year and we want to see 'em come back!
One of the best instrumental releases we've heard lately comes fro Sweden's Langhorns. This cd only release from Bad Taste Records is entitled "Club Gabardino" and is a rare delight. Chock full of western and spy imagery, this album goes down well for any mood you may be in!
On Man's Ruin The Vector's and Entombed 10" releases are cookers!! Both come on color wax and are ltd. as usual. The Vectors are flat out punk rock 'n' rollers and never threaten to wimp out! The Entombed are ...well...shall we say, righteously in 'yer face with a big sonic guitar onslaught. Great covers of Captain Beyond and Alice Cooper + 2 originals. Rock 'n Roll!!! In this week should be part 6 on 10" from The Desert Sessions (Josh Homme of Kyuss fame & an all-star cast), the Unida full length which features ex-Kyuss lead vocalist John Garcia and a very ltd. 12" lp combining both out of print Fu Manchu 10'ers which to date has been out on cd as "Eatin' Dust". Yowza!!
Quarterstick/Touch & Go have finally given the world back the right to own the Naked Raygun catalogue. All albums are now out on cd with bonus tracks. These have been sellin' well and remind us of the fact that this 80's band kicked ass! Way To Go!!
GMM has got two fuckin' monsters out as well in the form of new full lengther's from Anti Heros and One Way System. Both are excellent. Also on the streetpunk corner are great new albums from the Authority " On Glory's Side" on Outsider and The Boils 'World Poison" on Cyclone.
