Fiftymen are a five piece outfit from Ottawa. With Todd Gibbon and Mark Michaud (ex-Crash 13) on guitars, Michael Houston Hanlon (ex-Pifco 88) handling the bass, Jake Bryce from the Recoilers on drums, and J.J. Hardill on vocals, Fiftymen play country music, but it’s country music played on Les Pauls through Marshalls. They have a killer CD called "After Darkfall". get one y'all. Also check out their swank new website www.thefiftymen.com

The Glads

These guys have alot of history amongst them. featuring ex- members of The Desecrators, The Knurlings, Dead City Rebels... they do up some fine tuneage with some fine sixties and garage rock leanings. They've played with The Cynics, Federation X and The Fleshtones to name a few. Go see 'em next time they play, you won't be disapointed. www.theglads.com

Expect some recorded material soon.

These guys are one seriously hard rockin' bunch. Think Electric Frankenstein meets Tricky Woo or somethin' like that and then you'll know the potential fury. Check out their cool website www.bitchincamaros.com

The Stumblers
These fellas are The Stumblers. They are fairly new to playin' out and they rock in a Velvets meets Thin White Rope @ Max's in Tuscon kinda way. Have wowed a few local crowds already and continue to make waves. They have a CD Called "Bob Ate My Demo" that y'all should get.

Be sure to stop by the zany world of the WERBO. Ottawa's very own keepers of the twisties...and they make some of the best music this city has to offer.

flecton bigsky

Longtime local icon with a history you don't want to know! Satan by any other name! With drummer Watson Traps this duo rawk with humour and roll with zigzags.

Click Flecton's pic to check out this awesome photo taken by Will Desjardins.

the stand gt

Originally from Glengarry county these longtimers have toured the country and released records the world over. Pretty much the best band that most "cool" indie labels have ignored! Oh well their loss! New CD out called "Good on the River". Without a doubt one of the most missed live acts in the past year or so !

Check out the Stand's site for more.

The 4 Frames
Who Are These Guys Now? They were Mouthpiece but not anymore. There is still Chris, Wayne and his brother Albert but now they have Rene from the Dead City Rebels on bass. They all wear glasses (at least most of the time so now they are calling themselves THE FOUR FRAMES.
They all still draw from a wide variety of influences, both musical and otherwise, and now their sound is even beefier than ever before. Can you say "seriously kick-ass Rock 'n' Roll? Check them out soon.

dead city rebels

Ottawa's beer fueled, hot rod, rock 'n' roll champions. Two more transplanted Maritimers start something good. Loud , fast and smokin'. Attitude a plenty ! These guys are no longer active really, but try to find their 10", it smokes! Nat has gone on with a new band called THE GLADS, and Rene plays with THE FOUR FRAMES.

orange alabaster mushroom
Not bad for a guy who was'nt even around in the 60's !!! "Grog" plays every instrument goin'. Pure psych rawk with catchiness to boot. His records are excellent but hard to find ! Step into the world of the O.A.M.

greenfield main

Greenfield Main is the "countrifried" alter-ego of Kelp Records chief and Rhume lead Jon Bartlett. He brings together various talents from the Ottawa music scene for a rollickin' good time mix of neo-country, bluegrass and honky tonk. They have a killer CD out called "Hunting Tips For Everyone". To check out the goods CLICK HERE.

Can you say RAWK !!! Power packed 70's influenced raunch of the highest, heaviest order. Lead by a two stringed bassist who belts out vocals with the aggro of a rabid wolf. Earplugs may be needed!! Check out the killer rock of the Shifters on their CD "Given Half A Chance..." on GAS records.

Since 1983 this Fredericton, N.B. based collective lead by the one constant member, Mark Carmody, have spun a lengthy musical web of " Surrealist, underworld-ethno, jazz-rawk fusion". Two official releases on cd, "Circus Of Disharmony" and "Birds Of Grey" are only a smattering of a huge body of recorded work over the past two decades. From Wire magazine in the UK to dozens of underground mags and community radio in Canada , The "Meet" have always garnered huge amounts of praise and attention. Prior to the end of 1999 a brand new vinyl only album will see light of day. Recorded this year, it will bear the name of the Exploding Meet and Madison Shadwell. A number of other albums have been assembled and are also earmarked for release in the year 2000. Live performances in Ottawa and Fredericton are in the planning stage.
For more info you can contact Mark Carmody @ 114 McKeen St. Fredericton, New Brunswick, E3A 2R1, Canada or contact Birdman Sound. Stay tuned for more about the Exploding Meet.

Solo project from Stand GT/Resin Scraper guitarist who plays a loud guitar with the keenest sense for melody and memorable hooks. Loves the Maple Leafs, Labatt Blue and hoola hoops. Do you see a pattern ? Truly Canadian.

Legendary Ottawa 70's Punk band The BUREAUCRATS " Roi" 12 song cd (also available on wax). After one killer 7", "Feel The Pain", now incredibly rare and sought after, the band have unleashed an album....nearly 20 years better late than never ! This sucker rawks!! The perfect combination of 70's UK inspired power pop and punk rock.
They also got together for a reunion gig that had the Dominion packed out and was quite inspiring, hopefully we'll get them to do it all again soon!!
